In their study of the non-fiction genre, first graders made book talk commercials about a book they had read and enjoyed. The time and effort they put into writing their scripts and practicing their lines was tremendous. A special thank you to Mrs. Bombardier, Mrs. Kadis, and Mrs. Salvatore for all the work they did on this project in class! Same to the first grade parents for their support at home!
This project was a complete team effort!!
All three classes are in one 30 min video. To see a particular class, please follow these guidelines:
Snakes, armadillos, cockroaches, oh my!!! Our friend Ben from the Forest Park Zoo brought animals all the way to Center School for the third grade Zoo on the Go program! You'll definitely enjoy the different types of animals the kids got to learn about! Special thank you to our wonderful PTO for funding this terrific program! Enjoy!
This episodes covers kindergarten and fifth grade buddies, Mrs. Hutton reading in her P.J.'s and the annual 5th grade Memoir Program. Not to be missed!
No, not the bird, the robot!! The Finch is a robot that is designed to support an engaging introduction to the art of programming. As of now, students in the fourth and fifth grades are learning coding using code.org, and then programming the Finch Robot using Scratch, and Snap.
Learning the fundamentals of coding gives the students skills that will serve them well as they continue through school and beyond: logical thinking, problem solving, perseverance, collaboration, creativity and communication.
Thank you to Silvia Scott and Sue Dufraine at Blueberry and Wolf Swamp for the leading the way with coding!
