Last week, CSS visited the Reading Ambassadors, a group of third to fifth graders who meet before school every two weeks to plan and execute literacy events for students at Center School. As the initial year wraps up, the different committees are working on a variety of events. Before break, the Spirit Day committee hosted "dress up like a favorite book character" day and are now writing reviews for books at this week's Book Fair. The Reading Republic committee is drafting articles and games for their literacy-themed school newspaper, and the Book Cover Door committee is getting ready to "bookmark" another classroom door. Another group, the Summer Reading Assembly committee, has been busy nominating books and writing introductions for our red carpet-themed summer reading assembly in June. The Reading Ambassadors had so many ideas for literacy events that these are just some of the committees. Every other Thursday morning is a busy, fun-filled literacy launch to our school day!
