Osmo Numbers combines tangible tiles with an interactive game to build math confidence. First graders did an outstanding job working collaboratively to sharpen their math skills!
In conjunction with their unit on circuits in science, fourth graders worked collaboratively to build amazing electronics! The way they worked together and problem-solved was commendable. We have some future engineers in the fourth grade!
We had been studying continents in third grade through the use of Virtual Reality, when one of our third graders, Madison, had a great idea for a green screen video...so here is the fruition of her vision! Students researched, wrote a script, practiced, helped pick out backgrounds and voila - A beautifully crafted movie! The third graders did amazing work - very impressive! Special thanks to Madison! Enjoy!
On November 11th we stand united to honor our military veterans. Mrs. Palazzi's kindergarten learned a new song and made flags to mark the special day. Enjoy!
One of many wonderful things about having a Dog Assisted Interventionist is that it allows us to weave in some Social Emotional Learning lessons along the way. In What I Like about Me, first graders identified characteristics that they are proud of in order to enhance self-acceptance, awareness of strengths and self-confidence. This aligns with The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotion Learning (CASEL):
Possess self-confidence - When students are able to recognize their strengths, their self-confidence grows. Self-confidence is an integral piece of a healthy social emotional state.
Later we will tie this lesson into self-efficacy and social awareness.
Students discussed what they are proud of in the areas of family, friends, accomplishments. They also brainstormed what Murphy would be proud of if he could communicate that with us. A powerful lesson for all involved! Please click on photos to enlarge- check out the hallway near the tech room to see ALL of the first graders!
Second grade has been busy traveling the country through our LEEF Virtual Reality goggles to learn about the U.S. landmarks! Then they researched each landmark and created a class script!
Today they take YOU with them on a tour of each one. They worked hard on speaking clearly and using expression. The second graders did such a great job, you just may see them on the next travel show! Enjoy!
The fourth graders produced their own movies to see how well YOU know your New England states!
First, they collaboratively researched their states. Secondly, each group of students wrote their scripts together. Thirdly, they decided on a green screen background, and lastly, they used
the DoInk app to film one another, encouraging expression in their voices. From beginning to end, so proud of their efforts! Fourth graders can do it all!! Now let's see how YOU do in their gameshow!
First graders watched BrainPop Jr. (Thank you PTO for the subscription!) and brainstormed what they wanted YOU to know about this wonderful season. Students chose their lines and performed in front of the camera for their first green screen movie! Enjoy!!
Second graders sang along to a song with a great beat to learn about the three types of rocks: We Will Rock You. We then learned how to make a Pic Collage of pictures of each type of rock. Second graders did an excellent job following directions and adding a special flair to their collages. Enjoy!
Fourth graders are really into the swing of things, technology wise! They rotated between three stations: Osmo coding, Blockly Coding for the Dash Robot, and Virtual Reality! So much to learn! Students showed excellent problem solving skills, collaboration and thinking outside of the box... very proud of them! Please click on photos to view the excitement!
