Under Ms. Vigna's direction, a group of third graders performed the readers theatre play, "Mr. Twit's Revenge" based on the novel by Roald Dahl. Students practiced extensively on fluency and expression, inferring word meanings, and discussing characters' feelings and motivations to better understand the story. Enjoy!

Center School Sightings, our school newscast, started in 2012. The fifth graders, former and current, have produced episodes going back for five and a half years. They have filmed, reported and edited episodes about educational happenings and exciting events each year at Center School.
To celebrate, Mrs. Hutton came up with the idea to ask students about their favorite episode. They had such a great time going "back in time" to see themselves, their friends, their siblings, and all of the events that have happened over the past five years. Students in grades 2-5 were given the opportunity to be interviewed about their favorite CSS and over 90 accepted. There's been a lot of excitement around this milestone!
Mrs. Cummings, a long time fan of the show, summarized it perfectly when she said, "CSS captures in the moment what's happening at Center, but it's also a wonderful keepsake of a lot of special memories."
Enjoy!

International Hour of Code was celebrated at Center through the creator's Code.org. Students also participated in Osmo coding, robotics, and programming challenges. The problem solving skills, collaboration and determination the students showed was most impressive!
First graders have been working on the game Numbers using the Osmo System. Thanks to the Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation and Chelsea Berry, these systems can be found in every grade level for children to practice not only math, but a variety of skills. The focus, teamwork, excitement and learning is palpable! First graders are definitely ready to use Osmo in their classrooms!
