Fourth Graders... Come on Down!

Name that State - New England Edition is the newest gameshow created by the fourth graders. They researched a New England state and then as a team created facts to present gameshow style.  Can you guess the state?  Pause after each "What state is it?" to make your guess!  Alex Trebek has nothing on these fourth graders!

Fifth Grade Mock Trial

What better way to learn about the justice system than to participate in it?  That's what our fifth graders did in the case of the State of Nurseryland vs Roy L. Kingsman.  Did Mr. Kingsman cause Humpty Dumpty to fall off the wall?  Taking the roles of judge, jury, prosecutor, defendant, defense counsel, baliff, and key witnesses, the students learned first hand how our justice system works.  The students learned important life lessons as well - can someone else make us feel and act a certain way?  Media coverage of the case provided by the fifth graders.

Fall into First Grade

First graders are learning about the season of fall.  We had a discussion about the sights and sounds of fall, and then using a sheet of words that relate to the season, each first grader created an acrostic poem. Afterwards, they colored fall scenes on the iPad.  Autumn experts!

Second Grade Goes on Virtual Field Trip!

The second grade visited the White House this week, virtually, from their classrooms.  They learned so much about the many rooms and even saw President Obama while they were there!  Here are some of their favorites from the tour...

Third Grade Appleseed

The third graders learned how to podcast by putting their knowledge of the lifecycle of an apple tree to use.  Check student work below.  They did a great job figuring out how to tackle this challenging task!

First Graders are Unique!

After reading the book on their iPads, Elmer and Rose by David McKee, the first graders learned about unique elephants.  Then the students brainstormed about what made them unique!  The following are some examples of their illustrations using the Scribble Press app. Fantastic!

The One and Only Second Graders

The second graders made "All about Me" posters from templates they downloaded in class.  They learned a lot about creating a poster and we all learned a lot about each other!  Each student has a copy of his/her poster.  Great job!

Kindergarteners Learn about Sharing

On only their second day of school (WOW) the kindergarteners learned about sharing by using the iPads to illustrate the main character of the book, The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. Impressive!
