Using UDL Guidelines, third graders have been studying idioms in technology through an introductory discussion, teacher presented slideshow, musical idiom video, and a collaborative hold the phone idiom game.
To demonstrate their knowledge, the students chose from the following options:
- Photograph two idioms and write a few sentences about the idiom's meaning.
- Draw three idioms and explain what they mean.
- Make a video acting out an idiom and explain the meaning.
- Create a Google slideshow of at least five idioms and their meaning with pictures.
- Think outside the box and create your own idea!
The students hit it out of the park!! It was fascinating to see what they chose, and a few students took it a step farther, by creating a stop motion and a virtual reality of their chosen idioms!!
