First and Fifth Graders - Osmo Time!

Fifth graders came to technology class today to help our first graders get started with Osmo numbers, a math game that keeps kids engaged and focused on the task at hand.  What a great afternoon!

International Hour of Code!

This is Center's month of code, modeled after the International Hour of Code.  Throughout the month, students in grades K-5 take part in many different coding activities.  From Dash Blockly, Dance Party and Minecraft on https://code.org/ (among hundreds of others!), to Osmo coding, Hopscotch and Scratch, children engage in sequencing skills, problem solving, collaboration, creating content, and the list goes on.

Children love to continue this work at home!  Congratulations to fifth grader, Addy, whose Hopscotch creation was chosen as one of it's featured projects with over 18,000 plays!

The First Thanksgiving by the Second Grade

Second grade teachers Mrs. Gildersleeve, Mrs. Bocchino, Mrs. Moore and Ms. Anderson's creativity was on full display just a couple of days before Thanksgiving!  They led their students through a lot of preparation and practice to complete a Reader's Theater of The First Thanksgiving.  The second graders did such a great job, their teachers wanted to share it with you!!

Meet and Greets Complete!

You may have heard about Murphy, Center's Dog Assisted Interventionist, who now has 420 new friends!  He completed his Meet and Greets with the students this week, and will begin work in our Paws4Cardinals program very soon.
