Fifth graders walked the red carpet and received Academy Awards for the amazing work they did in creating Animal Adaptations iMovies (see actual movies under post below entitled: Center School Second Annual Academy Awards).

A great time was had by all!!  Thank you to all the parents who came out to show their support!

Academy Awards Event in Photos!

On Friday, April 11th, Center School went Hollywood!!  The fifth graders dressed to impress and walked the red carpet, premiered their green screen iMovies and received their awards in front of an incredible crowd of parents!

A special thank you to Luke Szyluk from the fourth grade, who did an amazing job as the event's photographer!!

Student Created Movies Earn Academy Awards!!

The fifth graders did the job of hundreds of professionals as they wrote their own screenplays, became actors and actresses, and mastered chroma key green screen technology.

In post production, they performed the tedious work of editing as well as becoming sound designers, visual effect artists and title/credit creators.

What a way to showcase their immersion in research about a chosen animal's adaptations, habitat and diet.  And the Oscar goes to...

SPRING Has Sprung in First Grade!

The first graders didn't let a little snow and ice get in their way today as they designed beautiful Spring collages using the Pic Collage app on the iPads.  Maybe their pictures will bring warmer weather our way!

Second Graders Rock!

Using mnemonic strategies to remember the types of rocks, second graders created Pic Collages to view.  Then they were able to compare and contrast the types of rocks.  What creativity they demonstrated!  (Click to enlarge collages)

                              

                                  

                              

Thank you LEEF for Making Our Board SMART

Through the generosity of LEEF, the technology integration room was awarded a Smart Board, which is an interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection to make lessons even more engaging for the students, meets every learning style,  and motivates students to stay on-task, participate and learn.
