Center School Sightings - Episode 12 - Poetry Cafe!

Walking into Mrs. McLean's class yesterday was like walking down the streets of Paris... a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower to your left, laughing children in colorful berets, faint French music playing in the background and waiters poised to bring you delectable treats.
This was the scene of the annual Poetry Cafe - a gathering for students and their parents and an opportunity for students to share their beautiful poetry anthologies. Take a peek into Paris!

Center Rocks at TIES!

Our principal, our teachers, our STUDENTS did an amazing job at the TIES event.  It was so incredible to watch the Center students lead, inspire and teach.  I am so proud of them and everything they did to make last night a smashing success!!

Center School Sightings - Episode 11 - Judge McDonough

What a special treat the fourth and fifth graders had in listening to Judge McDonough!  Father of fifth grader, Bobby, Judge McDonough visited as part of National Judicial Outreach week.  As a Justice of the Superior Court and quite a historian, he explained the Boston Massacre (it started with a snowball fight!) and John Adams's role as counselor for the defense in the most interesting way.   He also taught the children about Lady Justice, the Rule of Law, bias and impartiality.  

Our American jury system was first put into practice in Massachusetts - how fortunate we are to be its citizens.  The students were fascinated and a few of them became judges themselves!  Thank you Judge McDonough!

Center School Sightings - Episode 10 - Meteorologist Dan Brown!

Thank you to Dan Brown, Western News Meteorologist, for coming to speak to our fifth graders who are studying climate and weather.  The students learned how weather is predicted, tips for using green screen technology as well as the interesting story of how Dan Brown became a meteorologist.  He even gave a weather report in OUR green screen studio!

Center School Sightings Episode 9 - The Math Olympiads!

Check out the Math Olympiad Team coached by Colleen Cummings and Julia Manna - what an incredible avenue for aspiring math students!  Math Olympiads is an after school club open to 4th and 5th graders.  If you love a challenge, look for information about next year's team in the fall!
