Earth Day at Center School
Monday May 13 is our annual Earth Day cleanup at Center School. This year there was a poetry contest where students wrote about Earth Day and a winner was chosen from each grade. The winning poems will be published in various newspapers and be recognized by the Massachusetts Poetry society. Our students took to spending some time in our gardens, raking, cleaning up and planting flowers. This event teaches our students community involvement and encourages green living. Congratulations to our winners! Enjoy the beautiful poems!
Earth Day by Devon Kelly -grade 5 -Mrs. Roberts
The sun shines on a world that could be better.
The sun is too hot, and I know if I was an animal suffering,
I would write a letter.
A letter saying reduce, reuse, recycle.
You can make this better!
Don't throw away paper!
Recycle it!
The ice will stay for penguins and polar bears; won't that be nice!
Stop global warming!

If I Were In Charge of the World by Jonah Barresi -3rd grade -Mrs. LongoIf I were in charge of the world...
I'd cancel pollution, ongoing littering, destroying forests, and also slimy gas.If I were in charge of the world...If I were in charge of the world...
You wouldn't have disgusting smelly trash. You wouldn't have horrible oil. You wouldn't have long roads because it destroys nature. You wouldn't have huge driveways and parking lots because it destroys wild life. This is what it would be like... If I were in charge of the world.
